Meet Will

Will grew up as the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother.  When he was 14 years old he left home because he didn’t want to be at home.  That started his criminal history.  He was hanging out with the “cool crowd” and by the age of 20 he was in addiction, running the streets without a job.

After multiple incarcerations and failed attempts at sobriety, Will finally completed a rehabilitation program.  Determined to maintain his recovery, Will contacted The Salvation Army’s Transitional Living Program (TLP).  Having been to The Salvation Army ARC program, he knew that The Salvation Army was a safe place for him to get grounded.

While living in The Salvation Army’s TLP, Will was able to obtain his Class A license.  He now has a career rather than a temporary job.  In addition to finding secure employment he has made great strides to reconnect with family that he lost communication with while in addiction.  A few months ago, Will saw his two sons for the first time in ten years.

Will’s life is radically different now.  He is able to build his own career, help his wife with her career, focus on his marriage, and relationship with his sons.  Will credits The Salvation Army, “It kept me alive long enough for God to open my eyes to see that I needed to change my way of living.”

The Salvation Army of Santa Rosa houses dozens of men aiming to rebuild their lives after completing a rehabilitation program.  When you donate to a red kettle or ring a bell for The Salvation Army this Christmas, you are helping to provide a clean and sober environment for men to build careers and reestablish their families.  You are part of the mission Behind the Bell.
